Viewing the food chain from A to Z
The European General Food Law will come
into force in 2005. Foodstuffs and additives used in every stage of production
will then have to be traceable. This will have important consequences,
especially for food production. It would be difficult to trace the components of
a product such as apple compote if the apples come from different orchards.

In 2005 wordt de Europese General Food Law (GFL) van kracht.
Belangrijkste consequentie is dat voedingsmiddelen in alle stadia van productie,
verwerking en distributie traceerbaar moeten zijn. Met name voor
voedselproductie zijn gevolgen groot. Een product als appelmoes is lastig te
traceren, omdat de appels van verschillende fruitkwekers afkomstig zijn.
