Eat your plate up!
Many people may need some time to
get use to the taste of edible plates and bowls. Not in Poland, where these
products have proven to be enormously popular. Nature lovers, in particular, are
very pleased that no plastic picnic items would be left behind in open areas.
The products are made of bran (the husks of wheat grains), a waste product in
flour factories. Producer Biotrem in Poland has engaged the help of EC-Pack/ATO
to do the initial tests, and currently to broaden the technological applications
and look into the marketing aspects of the product.

Voor de Nederlander zal het misschien
even wennen zijn want de bordjes zijn (nog) niet echt smakelijk, maar in Polen
is het product razend populair: eetbare bordjes en schaaltjes. Vooral
natuurliefhebbers zijn er verzet op. Ze zijn zielsgelukkig dat er hierdoor geen
plastic picknickspullen meer achterblijven in het buitengebied.
